This award was presented to recognize sustained excellence in service to the aviation community through the development of numerous airport improvement and infrastructure preservation projects. In particular, the West Michigan Airport Authority was selected in recognition of the outstanding local efforts involved in the recent completion of the new state-of-the-art Airport Business Center and Aircraft Apron projects.
“The West Michigan Airport Authority is extremely honored to receive this award from MDOT which recognizes excellence in the development of our airport for the economic benefit of West Michigan,” said Russ Sylte, Airport Authority Board Chairperson. “This project is a great example of our community, private and public, working together with the state and federal governments to make this possible.”
The Airport Sponsor of the Year Award was established by MDOT to honor innovative developments that serve as models for airports around the state. “West Michigan Regional Airport secured the award for the creation of cutting-edge innovation to improve the value of their airport to the community,” said Mike Trout, Director of the MDOT Office of Aeronautics.
